Toyota’s home robot helps US Army vet

Toyota has completed the first stage of testing its new Human Support Robot (HSR). Its key task is to help disabled and old people to perform simple household activities. In particular, the robot can open and close doors, hand over necessary items, clean up a bit etc.
HSR is a moving platform with the manipulator. The device operates autonomously and uses visual sensors to recognize objects.
The first test stage was in the house of Romi Camargo, American military officer and war veteran. He was wounded in one of battles, leaving him paralyzed below the neck.
