Robots and humans: the evolution of relationship between people and technology
In the near future robots will be responsible for household chores, work in hospitals and special institutions. They will help children, elderly and disabled people.
They can cook. Moley Robotics (a startup which won Asian consumer electronics exhibition) created a robotic chef. A famous example of a humanlike robot is Peper developed by Aldebaran Robotics.
Assistant robots are intended to keep you company and support you emotionally. A good example is Paro, robotic baby of a harp seal.
Today robots complete particular tasks or serve as companions. A social robot Jibo orders food, takes photographs and provides users with reminders. Roomba is a smart vacuum cleaner. Science is far from creating a system which has the qualities of an intelligent human but Alpha Go already copes with some difficult tasks.
The progress in the sphere of artificial intelligence makes it possible to create more perfect robots which behave like humans. Researchers agree that robots should have social skills, understand speech and human emotions. But it is still discussed whether they should have their own nature and be similar to people.
Anyway, people are gradually getting used to be around semiautonomous technologies.
