San Diego presented the world's first soft robot
It is a small platform made of flexible polymer with four soft legs. All of them are made up of three parallel, connected sealed inflatable chambers, or actuators, 3D-printed from rubber. The legs are hollow on the inside and can be inflated with gas, the amount of which, in fact, determines the speed of movement of the device as a whole. For example, if two chambers are inflated, and the third one is not, the leg bends.
The robot has already successfully passed the first tests, walking on rocks, sloping surfaces and sand without any difficulties.
